Jefferson City, MO- Homecoming 2019 at Lincoln University begins on Sunday, October 13. The weeklong celebration under the theme “Celebrating the Dream” includes four concerts, a student symposium, the Coronation of Mr. and Miss Lincoln University, the annual Homecoming Parade and, of course, the Homecoming Football Game.
On Sunday, the week begins with a multidenominational worship service at 9 a.m. in Richardson Fine Arts Center. Later that afternoon, at 5 p.m., national recording artist Brianna B is the headliner for the Gospel Concert. The show will also highlight local choirs and other performance groups. There is no charge for the concert in Richardson Fine Arts Center.
Monday, October 14, the JC Strong Concert featuring Murphy’s Ford is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Richardson Fine Arts Center. A portion of the proceeds from the $10 ticket sales will benefit the university’s United Way of Central Missouri campaign.
Grammy Award-winning producer, recording artist and activist David Banner will be the featured speaker for the Student Symposium on Tuesday, October 15, at 11 a.m. in Richardson Fine Arts Center. Students are encouraged to pick up their free tickets at the Scruggs University Center Welcome Center.
Campus royalty will be officially crowned during the Coronation of Mr. and Miss Lincoln University on Thursday, October 17, at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium. The Coronation Ball will follow at 9 p.m. in Scruggs University Center Ballroom.
On Saturday, October 19, the annual Homecoming Parade featuring bands, floats and other participants will march east on High Street through Downtown Jefferson City before traveling south along Lafayette Street to end on the campus of Lincoln University. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. The Lincoln University Blue Tigers will take on the Northeastern State University (Oklahoma) Riverhawks during the Homecoming Football game at 2 p.m. in Dwight T. Reed Stadium. General admission tickets are $15.
Alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university will have their choice of two concerts on Saturday night. At 8 p.m., Con Funk Shun and Terisa Griffin will bring funk and R&B to the Richardson Fine Arts stage. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Hip-hop recording artists Megan Thee Stallion and Li’L Boosie are the featured artists for The Finale Concert and Party in Jason Gym beginning at 10 p.m. The $35 advanced general admission tickets are sold out online, but are available in-person at the Lincoln University Cashier’s Office. Tickets are $50 at the door.
