Blue Tigers Finish in 3rd at the PGA WORKS Championship

BESSEMER, Ala. – All five Blue Tigers finished in the top-20 as the Lincoln men’s golf team took third at the 2023 PGA WORKS Championships, played at Bent Brook Golf Course and Shoal Creek Golf Club from Monday through Wednesday (May 8-10).

Henry Mwanza tied for fifth overall, shooting a 221 at the three-round tournament. Mwanza opened tourney play with a 72 and carded a 79 in the second round, but finished the tournament very strong with a final-round 70. 

Two other Blue Tigers fired a 70 in the final round, including Dedrick Harris II, who placed 11th with a three-round sum of 226. In addition to his 70, Harris also carded scores of 75 and 81. Austin Shoemaker, who tied for 14th, was the other Blue Tiger to shoot a 70 on Wednesday, and he finished with a final sum of 231, as he also carded scores of 81 and 80.

Remon Rabie ended the PGA WORKS Championship just two strokes back of Harris, as he fired three sub-80 scores to take 12th overall. Rabie opened the tournament with a 73, shot a 79 in the second round and ended the championship with a 76.

Closing out the Blue Tigers was Darshan Gunasegar, who fired a team-best 69 on Wednesday to end the tournament in a tie for 19th. Gunasegar previously had tallied scores of 85 and 87.
