Entertainment Event Featured Sports CIAA Announces 2024 Softball Weekly Honors #2 10 months ago Staff FOOD LION PLAYERS OF THE WEEK FOOD LION OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK#14 Tyeisha Gist, Winston-Salem State (Jr., CF- Taylors, S.C.) Last week Tyeisha had 4 hits, one being a homerun against Concord on February 24th. Gist also recorded two hits against Concord University in Game 2. One of Gist’s two hits resulted in an RBI versus Concord. In four games played last week, Tyeisha only stuck out once. On the fielding side, Gist has a .875 fielding percentage. Tyeisha had eight assists last week. Four of them came in one game, against Mount Olive last Thursday. FOOD LION PITCHER OF THE WEEK#21 BreAnna Steele, Winston-Salem State (Sr., P/IF- Laurinburg, N.C.)BreAnna showed her versatility this past weekend. Steele pitched 15 innings. Steele had a 3.50 ERA. Steele threw two complete games last Thursday, against Mount Olive and Concord on February 24th. She stuck out six batters in the complete game against Concord. FOOD LION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK#15 Jayla Hill, Bowie State(Jr., OF- Ruther Glen, VA )Hill tallied 7 putouts, including 7 assists and no errors for the Bulldogs last week. At Delaware State, Hill captured a week-high 3 putouts and 3 assists. FOOD LION ROOKIE OF THE WEEK#1 Jeniah Williams, Claflin(Fr., C -Ellenwood, Georgia )Jeniah has been great for the Lady Panthers early this season. She has gotten a hit in each game this week going 4-12 during the week for a .300 batting average. She has also had a run scored as well.
