FOOD LION OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK |
#7 Raven Gray, Winston-Salem State
(So., OH – Charlotte, NC)
In conference wins over Claflin and Johnson C. Smith last week, Raven Gray totaled 29 kills and 31.5 points. Against the Panthers, the sophomore recorded a season-high and game-high 15 kills and added four total blocks in four sets. The Charlotte, NC native added 14 kills and had a hitting percentage of .257 versus the Golden Bulls. Gray also totaled four digs.
FOOD LION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK#16 Myra Wallace, Winston-Salem State (Sr., DS – Madison, AL) Myra Wallace logged 35 digs total in a pair of victories last week. Against Johnson C. Smith, the senior registered a season-high and game-high 26 digs, and her four assists in that game tied a season-high. The Madison, AL native also logged six assists and two kills in the two contests. FOOD LION SETTER OF THE WEEK #1 Kaylen McClinton, Winston-Salem State (So., S – Charlotte, NC) Kaylen McClinton turned in her two best performances of the season last week against Claflin and Johnson C. Smith, tallying 45 assists (leading the team in each match) and 24 digs. Against Claflin on Monday, the sophomore recorded a season-high 20 assists and 15 digs. Thursday, the Charlotte, NC native set a new season-high with 25 assists and added nine digs, three points, two kills, and a service ace. The three points were a season-high, the two kills tied her season-high mark, and the nine digs were the most in a single game besides the match against the Panthers. FOOD LION ROOKIE OF THE WEEK #13 Clarke Blakemore, Elizabeth City State (Fr, MB – Knoxville, TN) Clarke Blakemore tallied 17 points, 11 kills, eight total blocks, three digs, and two assists across two conference matches last week. In the win against Shaw, the freshman recorded four solo blocks and two block assists, along with four kills and two assists. The Knoxville, TN native logged seven kills, two digs, two block assists, and a hitting percentage of .500 in the sweep against Lincoln (PA). This is Blakemore’s second consecutive rookie of the week honor from the conference. |
