DELAWARE STATE UNIVERSITY TO HOLD 9TH ANNUAL PRESIDENT’S PRAYER BREAKFAST SEPT. 20
DOVER, Del. – Delaware State University will hold its 9th annual President’s Prayer Breakfast under the theme of “Being Hopeful, Grateful and Purposeful,” which will begin at 7 a.m. Friday, September 20 in the second floor parlors of the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Center on campus.
It will be the final Prayer Breakfast hosted by DSU President Wilma Mishoe, who will retire from the top University post at the end of 2019.
The keynote speaker will be retired African Methodist Episcopal Bishop John Richard Bryant. Prior to his recent retirement, he served as an AME bishop since 1988. As a presiding prelate, Bishop Bryant over saw Episcopal Districts in the southwest and mid-west region of the United State,as well in three Canadian provinces. He is also credited with expanding the AME Church onto the continent of Asia.
Bishop Bryant is the recipient of many honors and awards:including the Ebony Magazine’s Honor Roll of Outstanding African American Preachers and Ebony’s list of the 100 Most Influential Black Americans. He has published a collection of sermons entitled, “God Can: Sermons of Encouragement from the Life of Elijah.” He and his wife, The Rev. Dr. Cecelia Williams Bryant, have co-authored a new book, Healing For Wounded Vows.
