NIOSH, within the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), offers many paths for obtaining training and learning about the exciting field of occupational safety and health for students or postgraduate candidates.The NIOSH Health Effects Laboratory Division (HELD) is seeking an individual with energy, passion, and commitment to conduct research in analytical measurement sciences by developing new methods, tools, and knowledge for environmental and biological monitoring. Located at the NIOSH facility in Cincinnati, OH, this training fellowship is a temporary appointment that has an initial appointment of 3-5 years with an opportunity for an extension. This fellowship position requires a minimum master’s degree in physical sciences, chemistry, engineering, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. The Division of Black Lung and Longshore Legal Services (BLLLS) provides legal services in connection with federal statutes that afford benefits to certain workers who are injured or die as a result of their employment, and to the survivors of those workers. These statutes, which are administered by the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP), are: The Black Lung Benefits Act; and The Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, as well as its extensions, including the Defense Base Act and Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act.
