FSU’s Worthy & SU’s Moore Earn CIAA Bowling Honors

Charlotte, NC. Fayetteville State University’s Brittany Worthy has
been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (CIAA) Bowler
of the Month while Necarri Moore of Shaw University earns Rookie Bowler of
the Month for the first time this season.
Worthy was the top bowling individual at the February bowling event,
knocking down a total of 1,650 pins. The sophomore played a total of nine
games to mark a personal event-high 240 pins in her eighth game, for a
final average of 183.33 pins.
Moore finished sixth overall and was the Bears’ 1st leading individual
bowler during the event with a total pin count of 1,664. Playing a total
of ten games, the rookie bowled an average of 166.40 pins per contest with
her highest pin count occurring during her 10th game of the event (202
pins).
The CIAA Bowling Championship will take place in Virginia Beach, VA on
March 23-25. The eight qualifying institutions will battle to bring home
the CIAA Championship crown.
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announces the updated location of the 2018 Bowling Championship. Previously hosted at AMF Western Branch Lanes in Chesapeake, the championship will now take place at AMF Lynnhaven Lanes in Virginia Beach. AMF Lynnhaven Lanes 2601 Lishelle Place Virginia Beach, VA 23452 The CIAA has claimed AMF Western Branch Lanes the host site of its Bowling Championship for the past 3 years, but will re-locate for the 2018 event due to facility renovations. Also new to student-athletes, coaches, and fans this year will be the championship format. Previously hosted over the course of 3 days, championship competition will begin on Friday, March 23rd and conclude on Saturday, March 24th. Teams will be seeded 1-8 based on their regular season performance and work through the double elimination bracket for the conference title. An awards ceremony will be held immediately following the conclusion of competition. The CIAA Bowling Championship is free and open to the public.
