Gov. Moore Announces Creation of State Minority Business Ombudsmen

(BOWIE, Md.) – Maryland Governor Wes Moore visited Bowie State University as the keynote speaker for Elevate and Engage, an event centered around promoting contracting opportunities for minority-owned businesses with the state of Maryland sponsored by the Maryland Minority Business Counts Initiative. During his remarks, Moore announced the creation of a new position specifically focused on increasing the number of minority-owned firms that do business with Maryland’s state agencies. “In the coming months, I will be appointing a minority business enterprise ombudsman for the state of Maryland, the first ever in the history of our state,” said Moore. “Their sole responsibility will be to advocate for our small and minority businesses as they navigate through the procurement process.”
