Hampton University WRHLI to Host the 22nd Annual High School Leadership Summit
HAMPTON, Va. (June 19, 2019) – The Hampton University William R. Harvey Leadership Institute will host the 22nd Annual High School Leadership Summit (WRHLI), July 7-13. This program is designed for rising high school juniors and seniors.
“We are excited to bring these outstanding high school juniors and seniors to Hampton University this summer. We look forward to sharing our tools of success, with the goal to discover the ‘The Leader Within,’” said Hampton University President, Dr. William R. Harvey.
This Year’s Theme: Entrepreneurial Leadership
Rising high school juniors and seniors will focus on ‘The Leader Within.’ The week-long, residential program provides students with the opportunity to establish a plan for after graduation through several exciting and challenging workshops. Students will also study basic leadership principles and learn how to improve their critical thinking and decision making skills.
“This year’s theme is Entrepreneurial Leadership and once again we have an amazing group of A-Listers to share their wisdom with the students. We have a diverse group of students representing 17 states and the District of Columbia,” said Dr. Jarris Louis Taylor, Jr., Director of the WRHLI. “I am especially looking forward to the final group presentations during the Saturday brunch as the students display their innovative and entrepreneur skills as a team in front of their parents during our version of Shark Tank. I have no doubt a good time will be had by all and more importantly, new friendships will be formed along with an education for life-the Hamptonian Way.”
The fee includes six-night accommodations on Hampton University’s historic campus, all meals, workshop materials, and leadership training.
Workshop Topics Include:
- Developing a Personal Brand/Social Media
- Determine Your Leadership Style
- Entrepreneurship
