JCSU marks 10th anniversary of Arch of Triumph Gala
Charlotte, N.C./March 14, 2018—The Johnson C. Smith University Board of Trustees is proud to announce the occasion of the tenth annual Arch of Triumph Gala, taking place Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Crown Ballroom of the Charlotte Convention Center. Join us for an evening of celebration as we commemorate the university’s 151st year and introduce our 14th president, Mr. Clarence D. Armbrister, and his wife Denise McGregor Armbrister to the greater community.
The Gala serves as a platform to recognize the generosity and achievements of individuals who have made their mark on the university community. The 2018 Arch of Triumph honorees include alumna Dr. Octavia Cannon, a board-certified physician and co-owner of Arboretum Obstetrics and Gynecology, LLC., the sole private practice in Charlotte staffed entirely with women physicians; community partners The Griffin Family of Griffin Bros. Tire Co.; and the Honorable Vi Alexander Lyles, mayor of Charlotte. WCCB’s Tonya Rivens will serve as our gracious Mistress of Ceremony.
Each year, hundreds of the region’s most prominent corporate, philanthropic and community leaders, along with university Trustees, administrators, alumni and friends attend the black-tie event. Proceeds benefit The JCSU Fund, providing scholarships for our best and brightest students. Wells Fargo, Carolinas Healthcare and The Duke Endowment are the Gala’s presenting sponsors.
