JOHNSON C. SMITH UNIVERSITY WELCOMES BEYONCÈ TO CHARLOTTE WITH UNIQUE VIDEO

By: Johnson C. Smith University
What better way to welcome Beyoncé to the Queen City than a video from Charlotte’s ONLY HBCU Johnson C. Smith University. Our students, faculty, staff, and alumni gathered on campus this summer to grove to some of Beyoncé’s hits, including BREAK MY SOUL and CUFF IT.
The video pays homage to Bey’s RENAISSANCE album, featuring the CUFF IT Challenge made popular on TikTok as well as voguing, which was made popular by Willi Ninja in the 1980s and adopted as a popular dance amongst the LGBTQ+ community, which is heavily celebrated in Bey’s newest album.
The mix for the album was made by Jasmine Woosley, a student at JCSU, and the filming and production were completed by the University Communications and Marketing Team. You can access a download of the full video here or watch it on YouTube. If you’re interested in a deeper story, please contact Gabrielle Isaac Allison, assistant director of Media Relations.
