Lincoln Women Move Up to No. 13 in the Nation; LU Men Ranked No. 21
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Following stellar performances at the Lincoln Open on Saturday (April 8), both the LU women’s outdoor track & field and the men’s team have moved back into the national top-25. The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Tuesday (April 11) that the Blue Tiger women are No. 13 while the LU men are No. 21 in its most recent NCAA Division II rankings.
The Lincoln women climbed all the way from No. 42 to No. 13 after collecting 70.72 points this week. West Texas A&M currently leads the women’s ratings with 326.61 points and is followed in the top-five by Grand Valley State (232.67 points), Angelo State (178.01), Azusa Pacific (141.27) and Minnesota State (139.30).
The LU men, meanwhile, earned 60.65 points to leap from No. 39 to No. 21. West Texas A&M tops the men’s rankings with 249.53 points, MIAA rival Pittsburg State is No. 2 with 207.59 points, and Grand Valley State is No. 3 with 191.81 points. Angelo State (171.44) and Cal Poly Pomona (121.87) round out the top-five.
Both Lincoln track & field teams will be Lawrence, Kan. this weekend (April 14-15) for the Kansas Relays, hosted by the University of Kansas.
