MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors

NORFOLK, Va., January 30, 2025 – North Carolina A&T State senior Maya Avilez was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Fellow Aggie Jasmine Hall was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week.  
  
Avilez (Sr., Staten Island, N.Y.) helped the Aggies to a third-place team finish at the Prairie View A&M University Invitational where the N.C. A&T State finished with a tournament-high 14,132 total pin count (214.1 avg.). She ranked first on the week in frames bowled (132), baker frames bowled (72), average per frame (22.14), sum fill percentage (93.9) and makable spare percentage (93.3). Avilez finished second at the invitational with a total pinfall of 1,408. 

Hall (Fr., Huntsville, Ala.) finished the weekend in fourth place as an individual with a total pinfall of 1,381 for a six-game average of 230.17. Hall’s 289 total pinfall from Saturday’s Game 3 tied for the best score over the weekend with Louisiana Tech’s Rachel Ong. She led the MEAC in average per traditional frame (23.73), sum of first ball percentage (91.7) and split leave percentage (3.6). Hall ranked second on the week in sum striking percentage (63.1 percent) and overall average per frame (21.82).
