MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina A&T State senior Chloe Newberry was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Teammate Victorya White was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week. 

Newberry (Sr., Lumberton, N.C.) helped the No. 6 Aggies to a ninth-place team finish at the Destination Orlando Tournament where North Carolina A&T State totaled a 12,773 total pin count (196.5 avg.). On the weekend, she averaged 218.4 pins per game, with a MEAC best average per frame (20.94) and striking sum percentage (61.5). Newberry’s best game of the weekend resulted in a 247 score as the senior finished 13th overall in the tournament.

White (Fr., Wentzville, Miss.) finished 39th at the Destination Orlando Tournament with a total pinfall of 972 averaging 194.4 pins per game. White averaged 20.42 pins per frame, third best in the MEAC for the week, while recording an 86.2 fill percentage (2nd) and a league-best 21.04 average per frame in Baker games.

Other Top Performers
Madison Colston (UAB) averaged 20.75 pins per fame overall with a MEAC leading 22.78 frame average in Traditional games and an 89.4% fill percentage.

Sarah Orensky (DSU) averaged 215.6 pins en route to a 14th-place team finish for the Hornets at the Destination Orlando Tournament.

Mariana Santos Rivero (UMES) averaged 20.19 pins per frame earning a fifth-place finish at the Warhawk Classic. Santos Rivero received All-Tournament accolades for her performance while the Hawks won the tournament with 10 wins and a 12,405 total pinfall.

Mariane Almeida (UMES) registered a 17.04 average per frame with a 72.8 sum fill percentage while finishing 13th at the Warhawk Classic.
