NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) joins the South Carolina State University family in mourning a fellow Bulldog, Nathaniel Wilcox, who passed away on Wednesday, July 10.
Wilcox, who played defensive end for the Bulldogs, was pursuing a career as a fire fighter for the Fort Myers Fire Department in Florida. The 22 year old, Cutler Bay, Fla. native passed due to complications that arose from heat exhaustion following the completion of a training session at the fire house.
In his memory, the Fort Myers Fire Department is posthumously fulfilling Wilcox’s dream to become a fire fighter and is sending his jacket and helmet to his family.
The MEAC sends our heartfelt condolences to Nathaniel’s family and friends, and will update MEAC Nation with funeral details when they become available.
