MEDIA ADVISORY: Third Annual Black Entrepreneurship Week 2019
Happening This Week
WHAT:
This week’s third annual Black Entrepreneurship Week is bringing together more than 1,000 people in downtown Raleigh, NC. The event will include five days of inspiring speakers and engaging workshops, and is conducted by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, located in southeastern downtown Raleigh, is the result of a partnership between Carolina Small Business Development Fund and Shaw University. The Center’s purpose is to inspire, connect, encourage, and support startups, students and existing entrepreneurs. Through educational training, entrepreneurs and students have access to the tools needed to build valuable companies and technical prowess.

WHY:
Access to capital and other resources and skills necessary to establish and sustain successful businesses is particularly challenging to communities of color, including Southeast Raleigh. Shaw University is committed to fostering entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking among its students and in the community. The University’s partnership with the Carolina Small Business Development Fund is an excellent example.
