Men’s Soccer Blue Tigers Battle Harris Stowe to a 1-1 Draw
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Lincoln men’s soccer team hosted Harris Stowe on Friday night (Sept. 13) in a battle of Missouri’s HBCUs, and the two teams left the field with the score deadlocked at one each.
The Blue Tigers struck first, with Hadri Lopez getting the ball past the Hornet netminder in the 10th minute of play. Harris Stowe (1-3-3) scored the equalizer near the end of the half, as a shot deflected off an LU defender back to HSSU’s Leo Mori, who found the back of the net to make it a 1-1 affair. Neither team scored in the second half, leading Lincoln (1-0-1) to its first draw of 2024.
Lincoln finished with a big 13-6 advantage on shots, but finished the evening with four shots on goal compared to three by the Hornets. Lincoln also had eight corner kick opportunities compared to one for Harris Stowe. Vincent Osei played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves.
Rajae Lawrence and Eugeni Yague each had three shots, Guilherme Goncalves Capaldi made two shots on goal and Kanye Francis, Damian Jones, Tyrieke Spaulding and Kevon Maitland also attempted shots for LU.
The Blue Tigers open GLVC play on the road on Sunday (Sept. 15) as Lincoln travels to Rolla, Mo. to play Missouri S&T at 2:30 p.m. CDT.
