MVSU to partner with MSDH to distribute free masks to campus, Leflore and Humphreys County communities

ITTA BENA, Miss.—Residents of Leflore and Humphreys counties can receive free masks from Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) through a continued partnership with the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) to curtail transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

MVSU has partnered with MSDH to coordinate the distribution sites. The date, times and locations to receive the free masks are as follows:

  • Monday, May 18 (Leflore County): Mississippi Valley State University, Rice-Totten Football Stadium, 14000 Highway 82 West, Itta Bena, MS
  • Tuesday, May 19 (Humphreys County): 520 N Hayden St, Belzoni, MS (former Fred’s Dollar Store parking lot)
  • Monday and Tuesday, May 18-19 (MVSU Faculty & Staff members): MVSU’s Willie L. Malone Physical Plant, 14000 Highway 82 West, Itta Bena, MS

Individuals from the noted communities can take advantage of the free masks give-a-way by visiting drive-through sites from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on each listed date.

Residents of Leflore County will be able to pick-up their free masks on May 18, 2020, in Leflore County on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University at the Rice-Totten Football Stadium.

Residents of Humphreys County can receive their free masks on May 19, 2020, in Belzoni at the former Fred’s Dollar Store parking lot. 

MVSU faculty and staff members can drive-by the site stationed at MVSU’s Willis L. Malone Physical Plant (Facilities Management building) to pick up their free masks.

Individuals will be able to retrieve up to four washable masks per person at each station. General information will be collected from individuals requesting masks for reporting purposes.
