NCA&T Alumna Janice Bryant Howroyd Inducted as Honorary Member of Delta Sigma Theta

Janice Bryant Howroyd, a trailblazing alumna of North Carolina A&T State University and founder of the ActOne Group, was inducted as an Honorary Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. during the organization’s 57th National Convention. She joined seven other distinguished women recognized for excellence across politics, entertainment, business, sports, and social impact.

Howroyd is the first African American woman to own and lead a billion-dollar enterprise. ActOne, the nation’s largest privately held, woman- and -minority-owned workforce management firm, operates in 33 countries and supports business solutions in 52 languages.

Beyond business, Howroyd is an influential voice in national policy and education. She serves as chair of the Women’s Leadership Board at Harvard Kennedy School and previously held advisory roles with the Obama administration, the FCC, and the International Trade Advisory Committee.

Her honors include the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and Black Enterprise’s Woman of the Year. She is also a bestselling author of Acting Up and The Art of Work.

In a press release, Delta Sigma Theta International President Elsie Cooke-Holmes described the 2025 inductees as “a powerhouse group of barrier-breaking women who represent the best of who we are.”
