The program, which highlights the service of Vietnam Veterans, will be on TSU’s Avon Williams Campus near downtown. The observance ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m., and the opening of the center is scheduled for 11:20 a.m.

The speaker, Lt. Col. Bernard House, has served 22 years in the Army and received four Bronze Star Medals, six Meritorious Service Medals and the Combat Action Badge, among other awards.

Most notable are the Bronze Star Medals, which are awarded for heroism in a combat zone.

House’s father was a noncommissioned officer in the 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment during the Vietnam War. Coincidentally, House commanded the 3rd Battalion of the 6th Field Artillery Regiment during his deployment to Iraq to support Operation Inherent Resolve.
