Shaw University Developing Plan for Safe Return to Campus

Shaw University announced that a working group representing a wide cross-section of University units is developing a plan to ensure the safe return to campus for employees and students for fall 2020.  University leadership continues to be guided by directives from state and local government and recommended best practices from the Centers for Disease Control regarding ways to protect the health of students, faculty, staff and community partners.

“Our priority is to ensure that employees and students alike have a safe place to work, learn and live,” said Dr. Paulette Dillard, president of Shaw University. “We cannot assume that the former standards for life in a campus setting will work in our ‘new normal,’ so our team is looking at how every unit will function when we reopen. Instructional modalities, residence life, student activities, administration – we are looking at everything to ensure that Shaw University can provide the kind of educational experience our students expect and deserve.”

The University expects to provide a timetable for a phased reopening of the campus by June 30.
