The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Division of Student Affairs’ Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) has secured $100,000 through the PepsiCo Scholarship Fund.
Selected students will receive $1,000 per academic year over the next ten years.
“We are extremely excited to receive this additional funding to further support the access and success of our Student Accessibility Services scholars,” stated Dekendrick Murray, director of SAS. “This is a huge win for our university as more students are self-disclosing their unique accessibility needs. Thank you, Pepsi Bottling Ventures, for your generous support of our students. Thank you, NCCU Institutional Advancement and NCCU Campus Enterprises, for your leadership and support in securing this scholarship fund.”
The funding will provide support for tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and other related expenses for extraordinary SAS students who meet the scholarship criteria. The scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate or graduate Eagles registered through SAS with a minimum grade point average of 2.75.
The ten-year commitment from Pepsi Bottling Ventures (PBV) marks yet another impactful stride PBV has made as the campus beverage partner. Pepsi Bottling Ventures has been a proud partner of NCCU since 2022, and the partnership will continue through 2032.
“Pepsi Bottling Ventures has been an instrumental partner with North Carolina Central University, and this scholarship highlights that partnership,” stated Derrick Magee, vice chancellor for business and auxiliary services. “They have given tremendous support to our students and continually contribute to the mission and vision of the institution. I want to give my personal thanks to their team for supporting the Office of Student Accessibility Services, and we look forward to growing this scholarship along with our partners in the years to come.”
Along with the financial backing of PBV and SAS’s role in selecting each scholarship recipient, the NCCU Foundation Inc. plays an integral role in ensuring the scholarship funds are made available to deserving Eagle scholars.
“Pepsi Bottling Ventures is committed to making NCCU more accessible and affordable for Eagle students registered through the Office of Student Accessibility Services,” stated Derek Hill, president and chief executive officer of Pepsi Bottling Ventures. “As NCCU’s official beverage provider, we are proud to give back as part of its 10-year partnership with this great university.”
Applications for the SAS/PBV scholarship will open on Saturday, Aug. 5, and close on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
