Voorhees College President Ronnie Hopkins releases statement on the passing of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. President Cheryl Hickmon

The Voorhees College family mourns the passing of Cheryl A. Hickmon, national president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and chair of its board of directors. We offer condolences to her family, friends and sorority sisters.

Ms. Hickmon, a South Carolina State University graduate who passed on Jan. 20, will be remembered as a servant leader who held numerous positions in her sorority while working professionally and personally to improve the human condition. She was elected president of the sorority in November 2021.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. shared the following information on its website, “Hickmon was a licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist who found great professional fulfillment in using her Andrology and Endocrinology skills to aid couples looking to add to their families. Outside of her service commitments to her sorority, Hickmon enthusiastically donated her time and resources to many other philanthropic organizations including NAACP, NCNW, National Brotherhood of Skiers, and St. Monica’s Episcopal Church.”

We know that her family, sorority sisters and others who knew and loved her will cherish fond memories of their time together. We, at Voorhees College, lift all of them in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
