Voorhees presents Homecoming King and Queen 2018

VoorheesDenmark, S.C. – Voorhees College recently crowned Davidetta Yarsiah and Zachery Williams as Mr. and Miss Homecoming 2018 during the Student Government Association (SGA) Homecoming chapel service. Yarsiah, 22, is a senior business administration major from the Monrovia Liberia. She is a member of Voorhees College African Dance Club (VCADC), Chaplain’s Office, and Miss Omega Psi Phi 2018. Yarsiah is the daughter of David Yarsiah and Jeanette Johnson. Yarsiah said she decided to compete for Miss Homecoming to represent her peers in positive way. “When I heard the news that I had won the title of Miss. Homecoming, I cried tears of joy. I am honored that the student body chose me,” Yarsiah said. After graduation, Yarsiah said she plans to pursue a master’s degree in business administration. Williams, 21, is a senior accounting major from Hollywood, SC. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., National Association of Black Accountants, Voorhees College Choir, Pre-alumni Council, and Student Support Services Program (SSP). He is the son of Calvin Williams and Kelly Matthews. He said he decided to compete because he wanted to set the tone for leadership for the Class of 2019. “My participation in Homecoming displays my amount of dedication and loyalty to this institution during my four years at Voorhees College,” Williams said. Williams said that this is one of the biggest events of the year, and he is excited to carry the title before this great institution.
