Women’s Hoops, #1 South Carolina Agree to Home-And-Home Series
BALTIMORE – As Coppin State women’s basketball prepares to take on the defending National Champions, No. 1 South Carolina tonight at 7 pm, it was announced that the Gamecocks will return the favor and play the Eagles at CSU’s PEC Arena during the 2025-26 season.
“We are excited to compete in Columbia tonight and are grateful that Coach (Dawn) Staley has agreed to return the favor next season,” said head coach Jermaine Woods. “This is huge for our program, University, and community. Last season, we hosted the defending National Champions, LSU, and now we get to host 2024 National Champions and the current Number 1 team in the country. “
“I want to thank Coach Staley for agreeing to what I call ‘giving back.’ Guarantee games are cool but having the icons of women’s college basketball come to North Avenue in Baltimore is amazing.”
This season’s meeting in Columbia, S.C., marks the second-straight season that Coppin has faced the defending national champions after the Eagles hosted LSU in front of a sold-out PEC Arena on December 20, 2023.
With the Gamecocks coming to Baltimore next season, it’ll be the third-straight season that Coppin has hosted a Power Conference program after LSU in 2023 and Arizona State on December 5, 2024.
