Blue Tiger Track & Field Wins 12 Events at the CMU Invite
FAYETTE, Mo. – The Lincoln women’s outdoor track & field team won eight events at the CMU Invite, hosted by Central Methodist University on Friday and Saturday (March 31-April 1).
Lincoln dominated the relays, taking first place in all three events. LU had the two fastest times in the 4x400m relay, with the foursome of Shantae George, Shevanae Thomas, Jameaka Mannings and Chrissani May winning in 3:52.56 and the team of Nehlia Mills, Denita Jackson, Abigail Brooks and Nattesha Palmer finishing as the runners-up in 4:00.39. In the 4x100m relay, the squad of George, Danneika Lyn, Monae Carey and Hughasia Fyffe was victorious with a time of 46.44. Meanwhile, the team of May, Mannings, Brooks and Thomas won the 4x800m relay in 9:49.3..
Fyffe won the 100m dash in 11.72 while five other Blue Tiger finished among the top-10. Carey (11.98), Jovanna Gustave (12.17) and Lyn (12.36) respectively placed third through fifth in the event. Annalisa Barclay timed in at 12.58 to claim eighth place. Mills, meanwhile, rounded out Lincoln with a 10th-place showing in 12.82.
LU was also dominant in the 200m, with six athletes representing the Blue Tigers in the top-10. Carey was the runner-up with a time of 24.92, and Jackson finished in fourth after timing in at 25.07. Shannette Allison (26.27), Palmer (26.42), Gustave (26.63) and Mills (26.64) respectively placed seventh through 10th.
May won the 800m in 2:20.88, and Sophia Myers was the victor of the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.00. In the 100m hurdles, Allison placed seventh (16.30) while Lee came in 10th (12.82). George was victorious in the 400m dash with a time of 59.20 while Thomas (57.95), Jackson (59.02) and Palmer (1:00.52) took third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Lincoln’s final win came in the long jump, as Dayshanae Hall’s leap of 5.17m was the longest in the event. Shamar-Kaye Fable also represented LU in that event, as she claimed ninth with a distance of 4.72m. In the high jump, Mills placed third with a mark of 1.50m.
Meanwhile, the Lincoln men’s outdoor track & field team swept all three relays and posted four total victories at the CMU Invite.
In the 4x100m relay, the team of Wesley Tyndall, Rashane Bartlett, Shemar Fletcher and Dimitri Beckford posted the winning time of 43.52. In the 4x400m relay, the foursome of Reuben Nichols, Troy Whyte, Kevaughn Goldson and Shanthamoi Brown has the event’s quickest time of 3:13.74. Meanwhile, in the 4x800m relay, DauJaughn Murray, Kewani Campbell, Donovan Bruce and Michael Cunningham teamed up to clock in at 8:15.93, giving Lincoln victories in all three relays at the meet.
Lincoln’s other win came in the 400m hurdles, as Campbell had the victorious time of 53.87. Brown was the runner-up, timing in at 54.48, and Bartlett claimed sixth with a time of 1:00.03. Goldson claimed second in the 400m dash, clocking in at 48.98, while Murray (50.83) and Cunningham (51.01) respectively came in fifth and eighth.
Beckford placed third (10.73) and Tyndall took 10th (11.27) in the 100m dash, and Fletcher was the runner-up of the 200m with a time of 21.68. In the latter event, Beckford finished in fourth after timing in at 22.03.
Dejone Raymond had a third-place finish in the high jump, recording a mark of 1.85m, and he also took fourth in the long jump (6.26m) and eighth in the triple jump (12.56m). Tyndall was LU top-finisher in the long jump, taking third with a leap of 6.70m, while Malik Drummond (6.02m) placed ninth and Jamir Hunt (5.90m) came in 10th. In the triple jump, Drummond finished in sixth at 12.74m, and Hunt rounded out the top-10 at 12.18m.
Next weekend the Blue Tigers will host the Lincoln Open at Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City, Mo. on Friday and Saturday (April 7-8).
