Moore impressed the enthusiastic crowd by jogging down the street to the parade’s viewing stand before speaking for a few minutes about the importance of voting.
“It feels so good watching the energy, the love, and the vibe—not just at BSU, but throughout Maryland. My future goal is to get Gen-Z to vote and make this Maryland’s decade. I want to continue improving the state of Maryland and supporting its growth,” said Governor Moore.
Singer, actress, and television personality Trina Braxton, a member of the famous Braxton family which includes Toni, Tamar, Traci, and their mother Evelyn, served as the parade’s Grand Marshal. Braxton, who was Ms. Freshman at Bowie State, also served as a judge in the step show competition on Friday evening at the university.
Film star and Silver Spring native Michael Ealy surprised many parade-goers by making a special appearance and joined Governor Moore, Alsobrooks, and Braxton in celebrating Bowie State’s Homecoming.
The BSU Symphony of Soul Marching Band set the tone for the seven high school bands representing schools across the county who kept the energy high throughout the 1.3 -mile route of the parade.
