CIAA Announces Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Honors #6

NAME: Charnessa Reid
INSTITUTION: Winston-Salem State University 
HOMETOWN: Winston-Salem, N.C.

Charnessa helped the Rams capture second place overall at the Soutside Power & Fitness Invitational hosted by Lenior-Rhyne by capturing first in the 100m hurdles with a nation top-five time of 13.54. She also ran on the 4×100 relay which finished in first place with a time of 47.02.

On the field side she finished second place in the high jump with a PR mark of 1.60m which ranks her now third in the CIAA. 

NAME: Aaliyah Whyte
INSTITUTION: Fayetteville State University 
HOMETOWN: Kingston, Jamaica

Aaliyah Whyte had an outstanding performance in the Women’s Shot Put at the Trojan Relays held in Mount Olive. Aaliyah secured the 1st place with an impressive mark of 13.32 meters (43′ 8.5″). This remarkable achievement has propelled her to 2nd place in the conferencerankings for this event.

NAME: Trevor Hyman
INSTITUTION: Livingstone College 
HOMETOWN: Clayton, N.C.

Freshman Hyman was the winner of the 400 meters at the Southside Power and Fitness Invitational with a time of 48.29.

He is currently ranked 2nd in the CIAA in the 400.

NAME: Zachary Jones
INSTITUTION: Virginia Union University 
HOMETOWN: Chester, VA.

•    Placed 2nd in the Discus Throw, setting a new school record at the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina with a mark of 48.38m.     

•    Secured 4th place in the Shot Put with a throw of 14.44m.
