DELAWARE STATE UNIVERSITY TO HOLD COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY SUNDAY, DEC. 16
DOVER, Del. – Delaware State University will hold its annual December Commencement at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 in the Memorial Hall Gymnasium.
Media representatives who plan to cover the graduation ceremony, should contact Carlos Holmes on his mobile phone at (302) 399-5972 upon arriving at the campus to arrange to receive a media pass to ensure entrance into the gymnasium.
DSU President Harry L. Williams will preside over the ceremony in which more than 250 of the University’s latest graduates will receive their bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. It will be his last Commencement Ceremony at DSU, as Dr. Williams will leave at the end of the year to become the president and CEO of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund in Washington, D.C.
During the ceremony, State Sen. Brian Bushweller and State Sen. Margaret Rose Henry will receive Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees.
The keynote speaker will be Steve Ewing, a DSU alumnus, class of 1983. Mr. Ewing is the president and CEO of Wade Ford dealership in Smyrna, Ga. – the first African American to acquire the franchise in its 80-year history.
DSU will have ample parking on campus for those attending the Commencement Ceremony. Attendees should note that if they park in the lots of businesses that surround the campus, their car may be towed.
