HBCU Sports Honors Lincoln’s Victor Thomas and Shantae George

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Victor Thomas, the leader of Lincoln’s track & field program, and junior sprinter Shantae George were honored by HBCU Sports in its 2024 HBCU Sports Award. Thomas was named the Track & Field Coach of the Year while George was selected as the Women’s Track & Field Sprinter of the Year.

Thomas led the Lincoln women to a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships last May and coached 18 All-Americans between indoor season and outdoor season. Thomas also directed the Blue Tiger men and women to 22 USTFCCCA All-Region awards and guided the LU women to a fifth-place showing at the 2024 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

George earned three All-American awards and four USTFCCCA All-Region accolades during the 2023-24 campaign, highlighted by a third-place result in the 4x400m relay at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. George, who also helped LU take fifth in the 4x400m relay at the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, qualified to compete in five events between the two national meets.

HBCU Sports considered its selections from coaches and athletes at every Black College in the country, including at the NCAA Division I level.
