Lincoln Women Picked Fifth, LU Men Chosen Seventh in MIAA Outdoor Preseason Polls

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Lincoln women’s track & field team was picked fifth while the LU men’s team wash selected seventh in the MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches Poll, released on Friday (March 24).
The Blue Tigers women received 76 points to tie with Fort Hays State for fifth in the preseason poll. Pittsburg State was unanimously chosen first with 11 first-place votes and 121 points, while Northwest Missouri (103 points), Central Missouri (101) and Missouri Southern (96) filled out the top-four. Washburn garnered 59 points to be selected seventh, and Nebraska Kearney was slotted eighth with 54 points. Missouri Western (39), Rogers State (27), Emporia State (25) and Central Oklahoma (15) rounded out the women’s poll.
The Lincoln men received 46 points to be selected seventh in the preseason poll. Lincoln was chosen ahead of Washburn (41), Missouri Western (25), Emporia State (23) and Rogers State (10). Pittsburg State again was the unanimous favorite with 10 first place votes and 100 overall points, while Missouri Southern (91) and Nebraska Kearney (74) closed out the top-three. Fort Hays State was picked fourth with 68 points, and Central Missouri was slotted fifth with 63 points. Northwest Missouri was the other team voted ahead of the Blue Tigers, collecting 56 points to take the sixth slot.
Both Blue Tiger track & field teams are in Rolla, Mo. for the Miner Invitational, hosted by Missouri S&T on Friday and Saturday (March 25).
