MEAC Announces Weekly Softball Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central junior Mikaya Graves has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week. Morgan State teammates Olivia Garner and Victoria Fletcher were named Rookie and Pitcher of the Week respectively.  

Graves (Jr., UTL, Mebane, N.C.) recorded a .533 batting average going 8-of-15 at the plate hitting three doubles and a homerun with four runs scored and eight RBI in a 2-2 week for the Eagles. Against East Carolina, Graves went 3-of-4 at the plate with a double and a homerun in the game driving in five RBI and scoring twice. She added a double each in the first two games against Norfolk State and closed out the series with the game-winning walkoff walk. 

Garner (Fr., OF, West Chester, N.J.) registered five runs on five hits in 17 at-bats while helping the Bears to a 4-1 week. Garner hit one double and one homerun while driving in three RBI, stealing three bases and contributing five putouts. In the opening game against UMES, Garner hit .666 with two hits, including a double, two runs, two RBI and a stolen base. 

Fletcher (Gr., P, Huntington, Md.) threw 16.1 innings over three games for the Bears en route to a 4-1 week for Morgan State. Fletcher collected a 3.48 ERA surrendering just six earned runs on 13 hits. She went 2-1 in the circle with 19 strikeouts including a career-high 12 in the series finale against Maryland Eastern Shore.  

Other Top Performers  

  • Chandler Martin (Delaware State) went 4-of-9 at the plate collecting a .444 batting average driving in four RBI with one double, one stolen base and 13 putouts. 
  • Rhyannon Stanley (Delaware State) pitched a complete-game shutout in game two against Coppin State giving up four hits while striking out five batters.
  • Julia Holt (Howard) collected two wins in the circle throwing 8.2 innings with 16 striekouts in 38 of 42 batters faced. 
  • Jaycee Holt (Maryland Eastern Shore) batted .333 going 3-of-9 at the plate with one triple, three runs scored and two stolen bases. 
  • Clarke Calvin (Maryland Eastern Shore) registered a .455 batting average going 5-of-11 at the plate with two RBI, five runs scored, two doubles, three putouts and eight assists in an 0-5 week. 
  • Kassidy Oneail (Maryland Eastern Shore) pitched 15.0 innings through five games for UMES collecting an ERA of 6.07 while surrendering 13 earned runs on 19 hits with 12 walks and 12 strikeouts. 
  • Alison Keener (Morgan State) recorded a .444 batting average going 4-of-9 at the plate with three runs scored, six RBI, one double, one homerun, two walks and 21 putouts in a 4-1 week for the Bears. 
  • Maya Johnson (Norfolk State) went 5-of-12 (.417) at the plate with three runs, eight RBI, two doubles, one triple and one homerun. She added 29 putouts including a season high 13 in the 13-4 win over Hampton. 
  • Brierra Tyler (Norfolk State) threw 13.0 innings striking out nine batters while surrendering five runs, three earned, on 13 hits for a 1.62 ERA. 
  • Amaya McPherson (Norfolk State) threw 9.2 innings giving up three earned runs on nine hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. She also went 2-of-5 at the plate with one run and two RBI. 
  • Daiyah Bailey (North Carolina Central) registered six hits on 16 at-bats crossing home plate four times.  
  • Jaden Davis (North Carolina Central) pitched two complete games going 2-0 in the circle with a 1.50 ERA, surrendering three earned runs on nine hits while striking out 14 batters. 
  • Taylor Ames-Alexander (South Carolina State) collected a .400 batting average going 4-of-10 at the plate with two runs and two RBI with one double, one stolen base, 13 putouts and 12 assists. 
  • Destiny Calloway (South Carolina State) pitched two complete games earning a 2.00 ERA giving up four earned runs on 23 hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
