Voorhees Officially Transitions Online

Denmark, S.C.- Voorhees College will officially be transitioning to online courses effective Monday, March 23, in light of the continued spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the current state of the national emergency.

The institution is committed to continuing its mission to provide a quality education to its students that prepares them to become competitive leaders in this global society. With the crisis, Voorhees is offering all courses for spring 2020 via online instructional delivery for the remainder of the semester.

Currently enrolled students will have the option of either returning to campus and residing in the residence halls to complete their studies or finishing the semester remotely.

To minimize contact and potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus, recommended social distancing practices will be adhered to throughout the campus. All campus activities for March have been canceled. As required by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), all sporting events have been canceled for the remainder of spring 2020.

Dr. W. Franklin Evans, ninth president, and CEO said there are no known cases of COVID-19 at Voorhees, but the safety and well-being of students is always the institution’s top priority. “As such, if you are currently residing in a location that is safe and suitable for online instruction, we encourage you to remain in that location for the remainder of the semester,” Evans said. “Voorhees College remains committed to ensuring that the academic experience reflects the College’s mantra: BEGIN. BELIEVE. BECOME.”

Voorhees officials will continue to monitor the situation and determine if additional college activities will be postponed or canceled for the duration of the semester.
