Shaw University Achieves Record-Breaking Enrollment Growth for Fall 2024 Freshman Class
Shaw University celebrated a significant achievement in student enrollment for Fall 2024. The university saw a 36% increase in new student enrollment, welcoming its largest freshman class since the pandemic. This growth marked a resurgence in interest and commitment to higher education at the nation’s first historically Black university in the South. Read more.

Lady Bears Continue To Dominate CIAA in Tennis
For the sixth straight year, the Shaw University Lady Bears and the Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls battled for the CIAA Women’s Tennis title Saturday afternoon. The same result followed as Shaw defeated JCSU 4-0 to capture the 2024 CIAA title. With the win, Shaw has now captured the last six CIAA women’s tennis titles bringing their total to 13 CIAA championships. Read more.
Pointed, Passionate Perspectives Ignite Inaugural TEDxShawUniversity
In March of 2024, the inaugural TEDxShawUniversity event took place in Estey Hall, featuring a powerful lineup of speakers. Two Shaw University students, alongside three dynamic entrepreneurs, shared innovative ideas and compelling insights that captivated the audience. Shaw University hosted the second edition of “I Am Black History” in Estey Hall, where six local Black leaders gathered to reflect on the progress made and the importance of continued civic engagement.
