Voorhees University Lady Tigers Secure Spot in HBCU Women’s Basketball Top 10 Rankings

Voorhees University proudly announces that its Lady Tigers basketball team has earned a place in the prestigious HBCU Women’s Basketball Top 10 rankings. As of the latest update on October 30, the Lady Tigers have secured the #9 position, boasting an impressive 8-2 record. This achievement reflects the team’s competitive drive and excellence on the court.

The Lady Tigers compete in the HBCU D2/NAIA Women’s Basketball Top 10, joining the ranks of the finest programs in the league. The top spot is currently held by Xavier University of Louisiana, with an undefeated 12-0 record, followed by Langston University with a remarkable 12-1 record. Other notable teams in the rankings include Florida Memorial (10-1) and Stillman College (11-3).

Voorhees’ inclusion in this elite group underscores the team’s consistent improvement and resilience. Demonstrating both offensive firepower and defensive strength, the Lady Tigers have earned respect and recognition among the top programs in HBCU basketball. As the season progresses, fans and analysts alike eagerly anticipate how the team will continue to challenge formidable opponents.

Several standout players have been instrumental in the Lady Tigers’ success this season:

• Ty’Shemia Bunkley: A dominant force on the court, Bunkley leads the team with 15.2 points per game (PPG) and contributes 6.6 rebounds per game. Her shooting efficiency is noteworthy, with a field goal percentage of 33.6% (33/105). Bunkley is on the brink of reaching a significant milestone, needing just 29 points to hit 1,000 career points. Her strong presence in the paint and on the glass makes her indispensable to the Lady Tigers’ offense.
• Kaelin Davis: A key contributor on both ends of the floor, Davis averages 9.6 PPG and 3.6 rebounds per game. With a field goal percentage of 39.5%, she has also demonstrated defensive prowess, recording 21 steals this season.
• Alyssa Herder: Known for her versatility, Herder averages 8.9 PPG and 5.4 rebounds per game. She leads the team in shooting accuracy with a stellar 51.3% field goal percentage and has made significant defensive contributions with 7 blocks. Her leadership on the court has been pivotal to the team’s overall performance.
• Nedisha Ford: Rounding out the core group, Ford averages 7.4 PPG and 4.5 rebounds per game. She has been a solid defensive presence with 9 steals, further bolstering the team’s success.

The Lady Tigers are gearing up for an exciting test of their skills as they participate in the Tuscaloosa pod of the HBCU Athletic Conference, starting January 3. Both the women’s and men’s basketball teams will face top-tier HBCU competition in this pivotal event.
